A warning icon on displayed on your image preview is a good indication the file you uploaded which is in a CMYK color mode. We recommend all images uploaded to be printed be in the RGB mode. While we will accept and print CMYK files, there is a chance the file will not convert by the software used to prep or print the file for actual printing and not print as well as it could.
So Why Recommend RGB Instead?
While CMYK is widely used, especially for offset printing, modern digital printing workflows have grown to accommodate, and many times expect RGB files.
Before, artists and photographers had to convert their images to CMYK. They tended to be alarmed when the printed piece turned out differently than what they had been seeing on screen. With the increase in online printing this became more of a problem. To avoid this, color labs began to request files be submitted in RGB.
Now, modern workflows allow printers to use printer profiles that automatically match CMYK inks to RGB values to produce results that are much more like what is expected. Additionally, printers use inks beyond just CMYK. This way they can closely match the wider color gamut of RGB.
